Shift Quest intro....Gr 7's get ready!

Friday, August 5, 2016 - 17:58

Grade 7 is almost done and you're preparing to go to high school.

Those butterflies in your stomach and a jumble of thoughts in your head are all normal symptoms of getting ready for the next step in your life!

We know how you moment you're the the bee's knees. And then the reality - you are the little fish in the big pond again. And with this you realise that: "Hey! I'm not really ready..or am I?"

Making the shift to high school is something that no one can prepare you for. You may feel that it's silly to worry about it, and then you just go with the flow and hope for the best. But in the meantime you may have loads of questions and uncertainty about how it will really be. And how you will cope?

Maybe you'll have to change your routine - waking up earlier, catching a bus, walking to school, mom no longer allowed to walk you to class. What about your friends? And how on earth will I make new ones? Or you may have to go to res and move away from your family. And even though you may have had a visit to your new school, it didn't help much to make you feel more sure. Of course you're excited - you're now 13 going on 14. And all that freedom - WOW.!! Yet that little voice keeps on popping up at the weirdest times.

For parents this is a tough time - especially if it's your precious 1st born being exposed to the big world. Or your baby.....the last one out of primary school.

We want to make the transition a little smoother...and it's a good idea to start now!

You've seen that we offer a "Shift Quest" which will run during December to the end of the 1st term of school. But we also want to eliminate some of those fears that you as a Gr 7 or parent may have.

We invite you to visit our calendar for'll find a prep session for Gr 7's (because most kids don't like sharing their feelings with the elders). There's also an interactive breakfast session for parents to help you prepare! We all need it!

So take that leap.....and start facing the reality. I know I do......
